Is Your Attention Under Attack?
Mine has been. Lately, I’ve been learning the ropes of marketing, and wow… it’s intense.
Competing voices, shifting algorithms, and constant pressure to grab attention. It’s the modern-day battlefield.
We live in an overstimulated world.
It’s adding to the dysregulation of our nervous systems, the antidote to which is the foundation of Climate Calm™.
According to Professor Jonathan Haidt, anxiety, depression, and self-harm have soared since 2011, especially among young people, coinciding with the rise of social media.
We often don’t realise we’re overwhelmed until we’re deep in it.
So, this week, take a moment to notice where you are at.
Pay attention to these signs that you are losing focus:
Difficulty making decisions, procrastination, and forgetfulness
Dismissing or resisting ideas that we might typically embrace
Talking about how we don’t have enough time
Feeling rushed and under pressure
Not being present. Using phones as a distraction
Feeling unable to handle new information
Being easily distracted and unable to stay on topic or task.
Irritability, or short-temperedness
Awareness is powerful, and that in itself can create a decisive shift towards wellbeing.
