What If Climate Action Could Feel Good?
So often, we overcomplicate climate action.
We tell ourselves we do not know enough, that someone else must have the answers.
We outsource our confidence to experts or social media, and the result is stress.
Step One of Climate Calm™ reminds us to stop, centre, and listen.
Because on some level, we already know what to do.
What feels good for you is usually good for the planet. Eating more vegetables, walking outside, and making your home warmer and more energy efficient.
These choices nourish your well-being and lower emissions simultaneously.
It is not about sacrifice.
It is about recognising that personal healing and planetary healing are intertwined. Alignment that nourishes and creates ripples of positive global change.
When we practise alignment daily through nervous system regulation and small, feel-good choices, we begin to live differently.
The climate crisis stops being only a burden. It becomes an invitation to shift into lighter, more joyful ways of being.
Here is the Stop and Centre Practice - Step One from my new book.
This simple exercise interrupts stress patterns and re-regulates the nervous system, creating a platform for clearer thinking and calmer solutions.
1. Sit cross-legged on the floor, or on a chair with your feet flat.
2. Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Roll your shoulders up, down, and back.
3. Slowly identify five things you can feel — your skin, the air….
4. Next, notice five sounds and name them in your mind.
5. Open your eyes and silently name five things you see. Let them come without judgment.
6. Roll your shoulders again. Take a deep breath and release.
For that moment, you stopped consuming and connected with yourself.
If you spoke about the climate now, your tone would shift entirely.
Compassion and calm would replace urgency and strain.
“When we are in touch with the present moment, we are able to live in harmony with ourselves and with the world.”
