“Brain Rot With a Carbon Footprint”
“Brain rot with a carbon footprint” (@dunyakml)
It is with a sense of trepidation that I find I’m breaking my silence on AI.
As the demand for energy and water to fuel data centres rockets, experts are calling for better regulation and accountability.
On the plus side, AI could be transformational for;
Environmental enforcement and transparency – e.g. mining, unsustainable fishing, and pollution incidents at sea.
Optimising land use and farming methods for climate adaptation.
The design and running of more efficient and climate-resilient cities.
This is the moment to incorporate sustainability into the way this rapidly evolving digital ecosystem operates.
Meanwhile, psychologists warn that offloading mental tasks rewires how we think and feel, reducing mental resilience when we need it most.
As a parent, I worry about this most.
“We are outsourcing our brains – and calling it productivity.” (@dunyakml)
To avoid burnout and overwhelm, it’s more important than ever that we learn the tools to self-regulate.
Climate Calm™ is part of that solution.
AI holds a mirror up to humanity. In every interaction, we are training it. If we don’t like what we see reflected, we had better become more conscious of what we project.
How we show up for a planet in crisis will shape how our response is reflected back.
P.S. Watch this compelling video (Instagram) of both the planetary and personal impacts.
